Gurgaon is just 32 kms away from New Delhi, the capital city of India.  It is one of those cities that rose out of a former agricultural wasteland is today filled with skyscrapers.  What makes Gurgaon interesting is that it was a city built almost entirely by private companies.  All the big multinational firms have offices here, including Google, Nokia, Intel and HSBC, and there are many start ups too.  Gurgaon is an IT dreamland.

Gurgaon isn’t only about technology although one could be forgiven for thinking so by the number of Tech Parks, software companies and the fact that in corner cafes everyone talks about Digital Technology and Digital Marketing all the time.  There is also a gorgeous bird park, Sutanpur National Park, a golf course, lovely shopping malls, a huge theatre complex, The Kingdom of Dreams, and there is a Vintage Camera Museum.  Plus a large number of schools and universities have popped up too.  (Not really popped up, they’ve been here for a long time now and are well established.)

Gurgaon is home to all the multinationals which means a well developed infrastructure is needed, for staff, their families and their children.  Oddly, the buildings all went up before the roads and municipal services were developed, so most of the infrastructure and services are organised by the city inhabitants themselves.  There is a strong sense of community in Gurgaon, a community which is now about 2 million strong.

If you’re interested in Information Technology, Gurgaon is a good place to be. It is not enough to just be interested in IT though, you should have some kind of diploma or certificate.  You can do online courses with AcePro School and choose your speciality.  It may be web development or design, PHP/MySql Training or a PHP/MySql course, and you can have a look at the site and see what interests you most. There is a huge choice, and once you have a certificate or two behind you, you will get a job in IT.

There are over 250 of the Fortune 500 companies in Gurgaon, and Gurgaon is both an important IT hub and a financial hub of India.   Growth began when Maruti Suzuki India Limited established a plant in the city, in the 1970s, and it has burgeoned ever since. You will find the international companies like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, BMW, General Motors and so many more who use Gurgaon as their Indian base and for their  corporate headquarters.  

It’s worth visiting the Gurgaon Business Park just to get an idea of the scale of the software business, how important IT is, how this could be a centre for you if you are interested in entering the IT field, and also to assess your IT skills.  You may have already done  website development or website design course, and now you think you want to do more. Or you may find you need to do more. Don’t stop developing your IT skills.  India is at the forefront of Information Technology, and if you live and work in India, you could be at the forefront of Information Technology too.
