Hisar is a city that is just 164 kms outside of New Delhi and has been identified as a counter-magnet city for the National Capital Region. This means the city is being developed as an alternative centre to Delhi which is bursting at the seams!

Hisar, also spelled Hissar, is India’s largest manufacturer of galvanised iron and has an enormous steel industry. It is not know as the ‘City of Steel’ for nothing. The economy here is booking, as textiles, agriculture, the auto industry and IT are all staple parts of the economy.

If you’ve heard of the Central Livestock Farm, one of Asia’s largest cattle farms, you will find some of their farms here. The Jindal Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates, has its headquarters in Hisar.

Hisar is not all about steel and agriculture and there are some interesting sights in and around the city. There are some ancient tombs, forts, palaces and ruins, and it is definitely worth seeing the Ancient Gumbad, The Agroha Ancient Mound, Ancient Site of Rakhigarhi, Barsi Gate and the British Palace.

Any city that is being developed as a counter-magnet city has a strong Information Technology presence. There are many IT job openings in Hisar and there are several IT companies in the city, both national and international. KMA Technoware, Daffodil Software and Vistasoft Solutions are all in the city and there are many successful IT startups too. These companies, and more, offer software solutions and digital marketing all around the world. Many of them develop apps, websites, blogs, social media platforms or do coding for companies worldwide.

The city is close enough to Delhi that you can visit friends or family fairly regularly. There is a decent bus and train system and the infrastructure is decent. There are also many school and universities, including specialist universities with emphasis on engineering, science, technology, medicine and agriculture.
