Jaipur is the capital of the state of Rajasthan and is one of the most magical, mystical cities in all of India.  It is also known as the ‘Pink City’ and the ‘Old City’.  The city is filled with bright colours, women who all wear the most extraordinary saris, the smells are divine, the traffic is chaotic, the food is fabulous and there is history all around.  Jaipur is enthralling and you will walk the streets dodging cars, tuk-tuks, motorbikes, rickshaws, cows, bulls, elephants and camels!

At the heart of the city is the City Palace, a must-see for all visitors.  The Amber Fort is Jaipur’s star attraction, but there are temples, palaces, forts, markets, bazaars and art and culture wherever you look.

Jaipur has a very strong hospitality industry and there are many hotels that belong to the big chain hotels, heritage or palace hotels, small guesthouses, boutique hotels, Air B&B and havelis.  The shopping is amazing and the textiles and art here are exquisite.  It’s a good idea to have a day without any actual sightseeing planned, but just to walk the city and get a feel of the streets.  Photographic opportunities are everywhere, with the sights and sounds of Jaipur.

If you are not involved in tourism in Jaipur, there are several other industries that boost the economy . Fabric is big and the textile industry is huge.  Spices are enormous and you can find spices being sold on the side of the road, in markets, or in huge enormous Indian supermarkets.  Spices are exported too, as are fabrics.  Weaving is big here and the silver jewellery market is large. There are many small family owned businesses and Jaipur is a city of entrepreneurs.  People eke out a living whichever way they can.  There are parts of the city that are incredibly poor but there is a community in Jaipur and people tend to look after one another.

Jaipur is also a mix of old and new although the two are kept well apart.  You won’t see high rise buildings or modern technology in the pink city.  But in Jaipur’s new city, and on the outskirts of the city, are several large corporate companies and IT parks.The IT / TES Zone has been set up by the Ministry of Commerce and cater to global markets like Mahindra World City.  Jaipur has quality satellite linkage, voice and data solutions, good fibre optics and Wi-fi.  The zone is in a strategic location and houses some leading international companies like Genpact, Nucleus Software, the Deutsche Bank and The Phone Support.

If you live in Jaipur you are probably involved in tourism in one way or another.  And if you work in commerce or business, you are probably involved in IT.  There is plenty of opportunity for IT in Jaipur, especially if you have a certificate.  If you can do Graphic Design Training in Jaipur, Digital Marketing Course in Jaipur or AngularjS Training in Jaipur, you may well make a fortune.
