NOIDA is a satellite city of Delhi, the capital of India. It is just 25 kms outside of Delhi but works as a separate city.  It has its own administration, its own laws, and its own urban development. It also has the highest per capita income in the capital region.

Where did the name come from? NOIDA stands for New Okhla Industrial Development Authority and it was a systematically planned city.   NOIDA was set up as part of an urbanisation thrust and came into existence in 1976.  It has its own economy, its own education system, its own city management and administration and is a bustling, but small, city.

The population is approximately one million people.  It starts to make sense now, when you think of satellite cities.  Delhi is huge. A satellite city is smaller with far less admin to contend with.

NOIDA has grown in every single way.  Apart from being a sought after place to live in, and real estate is not very cheap here, it is a green city.  The streets are lined with trees, more so here than in any other place in India, pollution is low and the environment is well looked after.  NOIDA has won several awards for Best City in Utter Pradesh and Best City in Housing in all of India.

So, should you be living here too? Well, NOIDA has a burgeoning economy.  There are shopping malls, restaurants, eateries, parks and excellent schools and universities.  Special emphasis has been put on the Information Technology industry and NOIDA has emerged as a real hot spot for IT.  Many companies, Indian and worldwide, have set up business here and there are several IT Tech Parks.
