Satara is in the Satara District of the Maharashtra State of India, near the confluence of the rivers Krishna and Venna. Satara is an ancient city, established in the 16th century. The name Sataracomes from Seven-forts(Sat-Tara) and these forts are close to the city and a landmark figure.
